Family News Updates: It has been a while since we updated this page because we spent 2025 and part of 2026  travelling around Australia with the tribute vehicle, "Bubsie" celebrating the centenary of the first car to circumnavigate Australia. What an incredible experience it turned out to be!

Read of our activities in the online blog, starting at the bottom of the page and then work your way through the year's blogs.

2026 - What does it hold?

"If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
James 4:15

January: We finished off the tour of mainland Australia with Bubsie, heading through the south west of WA, across SA through Peterborough to Broken Hill and then through Cobar to Narromine and arrived back home on January 19. After 10 days at home we flew to New Zealand for a holiday.

February: While in New Zealand we attended the wedding of our granddaughter, Bethany to Tristin Ireland. Then we enjoyed 3 weeks with the McDonald family. It was lovely to rest and relax on the farm, from the travel of the previous months.

March: With only a day at home, we packed the car and headed off on the last of the Right Around Australia tour, as we toured Tasmania with "Bubsie". We headed across to the Riverland in SA to pick up "Bubsie and then to Ballarat with family before heading across the strait with the car. God worked in a wonderful way to solve the clutch failure that Bubsie suffered the day before sailing, providing the right person at the right time with the right parts in Sheffield to have her back in full operation by the weekend.

April: We arrived back home after the tour of Tasmania on April 12 and tried to adjust to being in our own home again for 12 days. It felt a bit weird! We did enjoy going to Grey Nomads camp at Stuarts Point and it was kind of nice being back in the caravan again. It was like coming back to something that had become very familiar over the 11 months of travel.

May: This month was spent catching up with lots of appointments that we had missed while away for the year - dentists, doctors, hearing etc. and settling back into some responsibilities at church and in our volunteer roles. At the end of the month, we travelled up to the Gold Coast for The Incredible Journey Partnership weekend and it was so nice to get back together with many people we had met on our trip and especially with those who had been part of our Bubsie Team. It was like seeing family again!

June: June started off with a quick trip from the Gold Coast up to Hervey Bay to catch up with family there for a couple of days. It was so nice to see them again.

We also had a quick trip to Kempsey on one weekend for our granddaughter - Kesani's 18th birthday and another weekend camping with friends on the Allyn River.

July: July was a bit of a medical month for the family as some family members had surgery or were in hospital.

Rhy, our grandson, came to stay with us for three weeks while he did his practice teaching for uni at Heritage College. It was nice having a young person in the house again, even though we didn't see a lot of him.

Orelle, our daughter in NZ, also had major surgery after her cancer had returned in February.

August: Glenda tore a muscle in her elbow and had a bad case of tennis elbow during the month. So she was a bit out of action for a few weeks, having scans, and physio to get things operational again. We did a bit of reading during the month seeing more active things were off the agenda.

September: At the beginning of September, Orelle requested that Glenda go over to NZ to assist while she commenced chemotherapy again. She had another bad reaction to the chemo so had to stop for a couple of weeks, so Glenda helped out with the kid's schooling and home duties, while Orelle recovered. The weather there was quite cold with even some snow. Kevin had a number of church responsibilities during that time so kept things going at home. He also enjoyed camping on a couple of weekends - one with the church camp and the other with friends.
